151 Property (formerly Valad Property Group) engaged Whistle to develop a fresh, new signage plinth to replace the existing, small scale plinth at the street front of their 636 St Kilda Road, Melbourne property.
The program involved a review of existing site conditions, professional photography (day and night sessions) to capture the environment for use in concept development and presentation renders. Multiple concepts were developed drawing inspiration from the surrounding precinct and the final design was visualised with photorealistic renders and technical drawings were prepared for production handover.
A project like this kicks off with a site meeting and a careful review of existing conditions. The design of the new signage installation must be tailored to suite the environment, it must be well suited to the exterior design of the building and gardens, it needed to compliment the recent refurbishment of the property’s interior, and visibility needed to be improved to market the property and its tenants to the busy commuter route along St Kilda Rd.

3D VISUAL CONCEPTS.
Importantly, all concepts were developed in 3D CAD to ensure correct sizing and proportions were achieved. With the design in 3D they can also be super-imposed into the site photography, for a photo-realistic simulation of how the installed sign will look.
With Design Option 2 selected as the preferred direction, final refinements were made, engineering documents created for manufacturing handover, and final presentation images generated for use in the building’s marketing material.
