Celebrating Form and Function in Australia's Design Capital
We were in our element this month as Melbourne’s flagship design event, Melbourne Design Week, returned for 2022. The extensive program of 300-plus events ran from 17th to 27th March, offering talks, tours, exhibitions and workshops showcasing the unique talents of Australian creatives. We were fortunate enough to participate not only as design enthusiasts, but as experts in our field, as we collected our Finalists honour in the Product Design category of the 25th Victorian Premiers Design Award.
This years converging themes, ‘Civic good’ and ‘Making good’, invited us to consider the social and community impact of our work, and how designers may contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future. Header Photo: Sean Fennessy

The focal point of this years program was the Melbourne Design Fair, featuring some of Australia’s top emerging and established makers of contemporary furniture and functional objects.
We took the opportunity to develop our designers and support staff by enjoying a team building afternoon at the event.
Exploring fields analogous to our own is a hugely beneficial exercise we believe encourages our designers to draw on different pools of knowledge to develop novel solutions in their design process (rather than seeking existing or “known” solutions to a problem).
The best ideas can sometimes be found outside our own industry, and we actively pursue this insight as a source of inspiration and innovation in our practice.

Victorian Premier's Design Awards - Finalists in Product Design

The 25th Victorian Premier’s Design Awards showcase exhibition was unveiled at the RMIT Design Hub on March 21. The event champions design excellence and innovation in Victoria, and we were honoured to be named as finalists in the Product Design category this year.
Mechanical engineer, Alastair, and studio administrator, Marina were invited to explore the exhibition of past winners before collecting our official certificate ahead of the main event at the National Gallery of Victoria.
We attended the gala dinner with clients from Bosstab alongside a list of esteemed Premiers Awards alumni, welcoming the opportunity to reconnect with the design community and hear about a variety of exciting projects. While we didn’t take out the top accolade, we send hearty congratulations to the winners in all categories!
